The research project “Körper-Territorien obdach- und wohnungsloser Frauen*” (“Body Territories of Homeless Women*”) by Dr. Katharina Schmidt was funded by the Women’s Advancement Fund of the University of Hamburg in 2021. On the blog of the Office for Equality there is now an interview with Katharina about the project.

We are planning on publishing an anthology on artistic-creative methods at the end of 2023. Exhibition pages for the anthology were designed in a workshop.

The digital learning portal “Geographie rassismuskritischer unterrichten” (“Teaching Geography in a More Racism-Critical Way”) offers support for teachers and interested parties to learn more about the history of geography and provides some suggestions for an approach to geographical teaching materials that is more sensitive to racism.

How Maps and Pictures create World: Maps and pictures say more than a thousand words. Without words, they tell us stories about the world. Although they are always just snippets of world, they have the power to influence our ideas about the whole world: What world looks like and what happens in the world.

The Parklet project is about future ideas for public space. We ask ourselves what human-environment relationships can take place in the city. In the course of the project, it will be explored whether a parklet can be realized in the neighborhood of the Geomatikum.

In the summer semester of 2021, the event series “Diversitätssensibel agieren in Bildung & Hochschule” (“Acting Diversity Sensitive in Education & University”) took place and addressed employees and students of the Institute of Geography and the University of Hamburg with diverse formats and topics.

As part of the methods seminar “Kritische Kartographien” (“Critical Cartographies”), student projects have produced six mappings on different thematic complexes around the year 2020.
