The exposure to artistic-creative, visual, and cartographic methods in our own research and teaching has shown us how important they are and also whetted our appetite for more. Under the title “Artographies – methodisch-künstlerische Zugänge zu diversen Raumverständnissen” (“Artographies – methodical-artistic Approaches to Diverse Understandings of Space”) we invited researchers and learners to contribute to an anthology. The aim is to test, explain and discuss what artographies are or what they could be and how artistic-creative methods can contribute to power-critical and positioned space-related research and teaching.
The anthology
Using sound, puppet theater, drawings, wire, film, performance, curation, mime, etc., the anthology will provide theoretical-conceptual and methodological-empirical insights into research and teaching experiences. This is not just about thinking about artographies textually, but also about making space for creativity in a book format.
The anthology is expected to be published by transcript in late 2023.
The workshop
The workshop focused, beyond the text work on a book, mainly on the artistic-creative design process of so-called exhibition pages for the anthology. These exhibition pages represent an artistic-creative interpretation of the contributions and link the empirical materials, symbols, procedures, etc. with reflections on positionality and power relations in research and teaching.
The workshop took place on May 21, 2021 at fraplab in Fux e.G.
