The research project
The project will examine the future of land use in rural areas and assess the opportunities and limitations of sustainable land management adaptation. The relevant relationships are examined in four case study regions: Amazonia/Brazil, Namibia/Zambia, Nepal/Northeast India, and the Hamburg metropolitan region in Germany, because these regions differ in their climatic, ecological, and social conditions and risk configurations. With research perspectives on “Diverse Ways of Knowing” and “Studies at Higher Spatial Scales,” we also connect local land use adaptations to regional and global scales.
