Highlands – Inklusive nachhaltige Entwicklung in Hochlandregionen (Highlands – Inclusive Sustainable Development in Highland Regions)
The research project
Highland regions are vital to humanity because of their ecosystems and the diverse goods and services they provide. Therefore, there is an increasing demand for evidence-based models and tools for sustainable local development in highland regions in Europe as well as regional contexts in the Global South. The HIGHLANDS project therefore aims to contribute to inclusive sustainable development (ISDH) in highland regions through collective research and innovation based on the exchange of local and global knowledge and experiences. Through joint research visits and meetings involving public/private and academic/non-academic organizations, a collective innovation process will be driven to develop a shared vision of ISDH, build the capacity of researchers, land/resource managers and users, as well as policy makers to bridge the gap between research and development.
