Carlos’ geographical work is grounded in critical political ecology, pluriversal epistemologies, participatory cartography, and decolonial and Latin American studies.
His research focuses on how diverse forms of knowledge, not always recognised as scientific, traditional, or Indigenous, can enter into dialogue within contexts of socio-environmental transformation, especially in regions marked by epistemic and territorial inequality. He is particularly interested in the critical analysis of discourses on nature and in knowledge production processes within universities, institutions, and territories.
Currently, Carlos is a postdoctoral researcher in the BeChange project (University of Hamburg / GERICS) and enjoys engaging with students and colleagues through seminars, workshops, and spaces of collective learning. Where, using participatory, narrative, and visual methods, he collaborates with rural communities in the Brazilian Amazon and in agricultural regions of the Global North to co-develop tools and strategies for imagining desirable, situated climate futures.
