I started studying Geography in Hamburg in 2018 and stayed here for my Master’s degree. I have been part of the KGGU working group since summer 2023. In my studies, I deal with urban spatial productions from the perspective of historical-geographical materialism in the tension between appropriation processes and moments of alienation. This is particularly true with regard to state control practices and the production of police space.
In my bachelor’s thesis, I examined the extent to which Ernst Bloch’s concepts of conceived hope and concrete utopia, following Henri Lefebvre, can be utilized for critical urban geography.
Methodologically, my main interest in my studies is in critical cartography and thus the question of whether and to what extent maps (or mapping) can do justice to the socially produced nature of spaces and make them appropriately comprehensible.
